Sunday, 10/11 through Tuesday 10/13: Sweet potatoes, she loved them and was enthusiastic about eating them. No allergic reaction and no other side effects.
Wed 10/14 - Fri 10/16: Pumpkin, she liked it, not crazy about it, but definitely ate it.
Sat 10/17: Bananas (Gerber), really liked it, but had allergic reaction of a red splotchy rash on both sides of her temples about a couple minutes after beginning to eat it. The rash did not seem to bother her at all and it was not anywhere else on her face or body, only on her temples. It went away after about 15 or 20 minutes. She cried when I stopped giving the bananas to her because she liked them. Awwww...(NOTE: 11/3 and 11/9 we gave her mushed up pieces of a real banana to see if she could tolerate that without getting the rash she got when eating the Gerber banana baby food, and she was able to eat it WITHOUT having an allergic reaction!)
Sun 10/18: Applesauce (Gerber), really liked it but again had same allergic reaction described above and it went away again after about 15-20 minutes.....
Mon 10/19 - Wed 10/21: Organic carrots, didn't like it the first time she had it but then I began mixing it with rice cereal and she would eat it. Didn't love it but would eat it. By the 3rd day she looked like she was enjoying it and would also eat it straight without the rice cereal.
Thurs 10/22: Pears, liked them but had the same allergic reaction described above! I would like to mention that all 3 fruits were Gerber baby food that had absorbic acid (Vitamin C) in them so I wondered if that may have been causing the allergic reaction. I called her pediatrician who wants her to see an allergist at Children's Hospital and not to eat any of these fruits again until after that appt. I called and the soonest appt they can schedule is for January!!! I'm so mad we have to wait almost 3 months! (Update: They called me to let me know they had a cancellation on 11/30 at 1:45pm so we got that appointment instead.)
Fri 10/23 - Sun 10/25: Squash, liked it, we gave it to her alone and mixed with rice cereal. Good both ways.
Mon 10/26: Started off with a lunch of squash and then had a new food of avocado at dinner. We were actually out to eat at the Ship restaurant in Lynnfield and I brought the avocado with me and mashed it up right there at the table! Mia was so good the whole time, she sat for the first time in a regular restaurant high chair and played and did not cry at all! She liked the avocado and ate a half of one that was mashed with a little water.
Tues 10/27: Had squash and carrots because I hadn't planned ahead and bought more avocados for the next two days. Will try avocados again in the future at some point.
Wed 10/28 - Fri 10/30: Organic peas, liked them but played the game of making her motor boat noise while eating them and they sprayed everywhere! Including all over my clothes and hands! haha.
Sat 10/31 - Mon 11/2: Gerber single grain Oatmeal, liked it, no allergic reaction
Tues 11/3 - Thurs 11/5: Organic Peaches, the first two times she ate it (Tues night and Wed afternoon) there was no allergic reaction. Then I gave it to her on Wed night and she had the same red splotchy rash on the sides of her temples appear about 5-7 minutes into the feeding! Again, it went away after about 20 minutes and I had her finish the serving which she seemed to enjoy very much.
Fri 11/6 - Sun 11/8: Organic Corn, liked it.
Mon 11/9 - Wed 11/11: Spinach, liked it but made explosive up the back spinach looking bowel movements very frequently!
Thurs 11/12 & Fri 11/13: Organic blueberries, liked it but seemed to get a slight very faint red splotchy rash on the temples (very similar but less severe than the reactions to all the other fruits) and then Fri noticed a red dotted diaper rash on the inner thigh/bum area. She also pooped blue blueberry looking poops that stained her bum blue!
Sat 11/14 & Sun 11/15: Yams and sweet potatoes (old favorite) just to make sure the diaper rash from the blueberries went away and it did!
Mon 11/16 - Wed 11/18: Organic golden beets, seemed to really enjoy them!
As for other updates, Mia is still moving around ALL THE TIME! I'm not sure if I wrote this in an earlier post, but we had to lower her crib mattress a couple weeks ago because she can now pull herself up onto her knees and sometimes even onto her feet on the sides of the crib! She is pulling herself up onto her feet now a LOT! She also does this by putting her hands on the ground then lifting herself up so her butt is in the air and legs are extended! It looks as if she will stand right up and run away! Hahaha! She is also crawling, not fully and fluidly but is able to get across an entire room by crawling, creeping, and pushing herself forward, and sometimes (a lot actually) extending one foot out while the other leg is tucked underneath herself. She also likes to kneel a lot now too, with her back straight up in the air! People keep saying she is going to be running before she is walking! ha!
Oh another very funny thing she has started doing over the past week or two is making these really funny (sometimes scary) growling noises! We call her the demon baby because she seriously sounds like a demon or a monster! It's SO funny! She likes to make this sound often.
Oh and I think she stopped teething at this point even though she hasn't cut a tooth yet. She hardly ever drools anymore and doesn't want to suck on everything in sight as much. She does still tend to put anything and everything in her mouth but I feel like it's different than a few weeks ago. Weird! Not sure if she's past the painful part of teething but there's really no teeth in sight! We'll just have to wait and see.
You have to see the latest video on our blog - Syd growls too! Totally sounds like a gremlin. Thankfully we haven't had any issues with food allergies yet - we're using Gerber too. I'm so curious to hear what the allergist says (once you FINALLY get to see him/her - ridiculous wait!) Post more pictures! :-)
