Movin', Groovin' and Teething!

It's been a couple weeks since I last posted a blog! Time to update! Well, Mia turned 4 months old about a week and a half ago and she had her four month check up on that Friday the 7th. Everything went well, the doctor said we could start her on rice cereal at some point in the next month or so! She said to look for her cues, if she's sleeping less and waking up earlier because she's hungry or 6 oz of milk or formula per feeding does not seem to hold her off until the next feeding. So we will be on the look out and see if we can start doing a couple teaspoonfuls of cereal mixed with formula soon! I can't wait to see what it will be like to feed her with a spoon! So fun! Anyways, she was weighed at that appointment and was only 11 lbs 4.5 oz. She is still on the small side but the doctor was not concerned, she basically said because she is constantly active she is really burning off the calories from what she is eating. And let me tell you, what a mover and groover this baby is!!! Constantly kicking her legs and moving her arms, twisting, turning, rolling over, etc. I swear she is basically crawling when we put her down on her activity gym or on a blanket. And, she is definitely teething! Has been for a few weeks now. Drooling like crazy and sucking on everything! The necklines of all her clothes are always soaked now! And usually my shirt is soaked from her drooling.....what fun!
She was still sleeping about 10 hours a night until 2 nights ago when she woke up like 2 or 3 times and wouldn't fall back to sleep right away, even though I nursed her! When Matt picked her up from daycare yesterday she was all congested and had a stuffy nose and was sniffling and snorting like crazy! She also felt warm but we took her temp and it was normal. First time taking her temp and it was difficult to do because she kept squirming! Poor thing sounded like she had a really bad cold but it's one of the symptoms babies can have when they are teething. Last night she slept from about 8:30pm to 3:30am, I nursed her for 20 minutes and she fell right back to sleep until 9am this morning!!! All the while she was breathing all congested, it sounded so sad, but doesn't seem to bother her because she was laughing and smiling this morning when she woke up!
I had to call out to work today because my mom got stuck in the Cape due to her car breaking down and couldn't watch her today like she normally does on Tuesdays. I was really happy to have a day off to spend with my little babe, we had a great day! I did call the doctor though to let them know about her cold symptoms and they said to bring her in "just in case". Of course all checked out fine and they said she is definitely teething and is swallowing a lot of saliva which may have made her so congested. They recommended putting saline drops in her nose and then using the aspirator to suck it out. Ew! But we did it when I got home with her and it seemed to help a bit. Oh and she was weighed again at the doctor's office and today she weighed 12 lbs and 0.5 oz. Yay!!!! She hit the 12 lb mark finally! Still in 0-3 month clothes and a few 3-6 month onesies and outfits but they are kind of big on her. And she is still in Size 1 diapers.
Anyways, this week was the start of my 4th week back to work full time and it has been pretty rough being away from her for such long days. I'm still waiting to hear from my bosses about the possibility of working part-time. I'm hoping I get an answer soon because I really would like to know if I'll be able to spend more time with Mia during the week!
In other news, my dad is going to be visiting from Florida, he'll be here this Thursday and will stay in MA for about a month or two. He hasn't seen Mia since she was about 2 weeks old so he has a lot to catch up on! She is getting cuter by the day and has such an adorable fiesty little personality. Always smiling and curiously looking around wherever we go! I just love spending my days with her, love it love it love it! I love her so much......
