Finally sleeping in the big girl crib, high fiving and blowing bubbles!

More updates to give on our little munchkin as more new things keep happening! We FINALLY got Mia's crib and furniture set from Babies R Us this past weekend! She now has a beautiful white set that consists of a Convertible crib, bureau and dresser/changer combo. Matt assembled everything and we put her crib bedding set on, set up her stuffed animals on her dresser and began to put her clothes and other belongings away! Ah, finally her room is starting to look like a little baby girl's room! Matt still needs to put up the wallpaper border, some wall hangings/pictures, and get a closet door and shelf in her closet and then we'll be all set! Her room does look great though. Anyways, because it's been so hot out recently we've had her sleeping in our room in the Pack n' Play since our room has the only air conditioner and we didn't want her to get too hot in her room with just the ceiling fan on. So last night was a little cooler and she slept in her crib for the first time! Since she is finally getting over her cold (which lasted a week and a half) she has not been sleeping through the night for her usual 10 hours like she had been. Lately she's been waking up several times at night and it's been difficult to get her to go back to sleep. Nursing sometimes helps and that will buy me a few more hours. But last night she woke up 3 times because her little arm kept getting stuck between the crib slats and she was waking up stuck! This happened around 12:30am, 4:15am and 4:45am. I finally took her out at 4:45am and nursed her, she fell back asleep and I put her back in the crib until she woke up again around 6:50am. I am hoping that tonight, her second night in the crib, will go better.
In other news, Mia is just doing so awesome. She is so funny and comes up with the cutest expressions, movements and noises we've ever seen and heard! She has recently started moving her legs really really fast when we hold her up in the air or near something that she wants to put her feet on (i.e. this doll that makes scrunchy crunchy noises when you touch or kick it). She loves to stomp on it!!! So funny! A lot of people are saying she looks like she's going to be very athletic when she's older, either into some sort of sport, swimming or dancing. I've felt this way since she was only a couple weeks old and saw how active she already was!
Another cute and funny thing she does now is when Matt puts his hand up to her and says "high five" she will pause for a few seconds, look at him and then take her little hand and put it up to his! Like a high-five! She has also started making the funniest razzing/bubble sounds! She'll purse her lips and then just razz and bubble away! Sooooo hilarious!
Another piece of news is that I recently requested a leave of absence from work in order to spend more time with my cupcake and it was approved! I start the leave on Monday! I'm SO excited! The reason I'm doing this now is because I requested a part time schedule about 3 weeks ago and was told that they'll have to think about it and figure out whether they can allow me a part time schedule or find someone else to jobshare the position with me (we'll each do 20 hours). This is going to take some time so instead of me waiting and waiting to hear the answer, and all the while working 40 hours each week and continuing to miss out on seeing the baby for long 9.5 hour days, I will be on leave! Hopefully I can return to work soon on a part time basis or find another job that is part time....we'll see! For now I am looking forward to spending some quality time with her at one of the most fun ages of infancy!
