11 months old and taking a few steps!

Mia turned 11 months old yesterday! She does something new almost every day so I am hoping to record everything in this blog so as not to forget all these precious moments! Let's see.....so much has happened since my last blog entry almost 2 months ago!
Mia now says several different words and has been getting more and more comfortable at taking steps on her own. She took her first step when she was just a little over 9.5 months old. Since that time she has taken 2 or 3 steps every so often but she is MUCH more comfortable and confident when she's crawling! She stands on her own a lot more now and it looks like she'll be walking any day now!
She has also been saying "dada" and "mama" for several months now. About a month ago, Mia began saying "All done!". She was finishing her bottle and when she was finished I took it from her and said "All done!" She immediately said it back in the cutest little voice ever! And so clearly! Since that day, she says it at least 10 times a day! So adorable.
She also puts her hand to her ear like she's holding a phone and says "ello". When anyone says hello to her or she sees a phone, she puts her hand to her ear and makes a "hello" noise. She has been waving "bye bye" for at least 3 or 4 weeks now, she has been clapping her hands for at least a month, and she blows kisses. She also started giving kisses on the cheek over the last few weeks! It is the best thing ever, just melts your heart!
She also has been playing peek-a-boo for at least a month or two, and has become very good at pulling the blanket over her face, waiting while we say "Where's Mia?" and then pulling it down and smiling at us!
Most recently, she has been saying "ball", "hi", "hat" and "baba". We read her bedtime stories each night and one of the books is a baby sign language book with pictures and words that correspond to each picture. She will look and immediately say "ball", next page "hat", next page is phone and she'll immediately put her hand to her ear and sometimes say "ello". And when I say "HI" she says "hhhi". She also says "dada" for everything but definitely knows when her father comes home because she will look right at him and excitedly say "Dada!" Sometimes when she wants my attention, she will say "mama". But her favorite is "dada".
Mia has also been eating more independently although for the past 3 or 4 weeks she has become a VERY picky eater, mostly refusing to eat any solids at this time. She is still taking 8 oz bottles about 4 times a day and does good with those, however she has been difficult with food. And she used to be such a good eater! Not sure if it's teething or what. Mia now has 3 teeth on top and 3 teeth on the bottom that are fully grown in. We're hoping that the teething will subside for a while and she'll get back onto a regular eating schedule of solids. She did start to love eating blueberries and would pick them up one by one and eat them by the dozen! Then, she started this food strike and we can only get her to eat maybe 3 or 4 bites of whatever we are giving her before she starts trying to smack the food away.
I took her to the doctor last Thursday as she had a runny nose, was stuffed up and had a cough for over 4 or 5 days. The doctor said she had a very mild ear infection and put her on Amoxicillin for 10 days. It is the first time Mia has been on any medication ever! But she seems to be doing better. She weighed 18 lbs, 4 oz at the appt. The doctor said she is doing fine weight wise. She said we can start giving her cow's milk at 11.5 months. This is in less than two weeks! I can't believe she is almost off formula now. Oh, I officially stopped breastfeeding her right around the time she turned 10 months old. I'm very happy to have made it that far. She had no trouble at all weaning as she had been used to bottles for quite some time anyways. I do miss nursing her but know it was time to stop as my supply was down to almost nothing (<>
Anyways, that is about it for now. I need to be better at updating the blog as so much happens every day, I don't want to miss anything! We are planning her first birthday party at this time and are having her party on Saturday, April 1oth. We still need to secure a location, decide on food, order a cake, get invitations and mail them out, get party favors and decorations and find Mia a pretty little party dress! So much to do in the next month! Until then.......
